NEWS 20th Apr 2008 Poor weather during door tests provides excellent high speed images
In March 2008 a series of test were conducted for Robust Doors UK. These were in accordance with BS EN 13124. The weather was typical for Otterburn, or indeed for any MOD test range.
The test team persevered and the planned events were achieved. To record the event the team deployed pressure gauges and real time and high speed cameras.
The high speed camera images - see gallery - show the standing water being kicked up by the shockwave as it passes over. Even the water on the pressure gauges is shown to be blasted outwards.
The shockwave is usually invisble and it is often only clearly seen by its effect on other surfaces.
