Detsafe Saves the Day

In February, a Detsafe 8M was being used by a leading UK training establishment to transport improvised detonators from its workshop to the firing area. The unit was filled and then an additional detonator placed in the highlighted chamber. On closure, it is suspected that some mechanical pressure was applied to the detonator and it fired, sympathetically triggering the other detonator already in that chamber. Despite this double blast loading, none of the other detonators were initiated, and the operator was completely unharmed. A potentially much more serious incident was averted and the unit has since been replaced.
The training manager says of the incident: ”A solid risk assessment supported by an excellent safety product proved a perfect and safe combination. I can’t recommend Detsafe highly enough, a fantastic piece of kit ensuring a perfectly safe outcome in a high risk environment”
