London Bombing Presentation at Explosives World 06

Steve Holland presented a paper at Explosives World 06 on the Technical Aspects of the London bombings of July 7th 2005.

The paper covered the following aspects:

•The Targets – the vulnerability of the targets to this sort of threat

•The Explosives – the nature of the explosives used as compared to more typical high explosives
•Communications – a perennial problem in any mass casualty event
•The Media – the rise of the ‘citizen journalist’
•Medical Statistics – a breakdown of the deaths and injuries
•People as Blast Mitigators – a discussion on how good the human body is at absorbing blast and providing protection to others nearby
