The Usual – Pint of Science Revisited

Pint of Science

Please to report that the Pint of Science festival allowed an engineer through the door to speak on their work. Steve Holland of SJH Projects presented on how modern, larger coverage, body armour has highlighted issues with mTBI (Mild Traumatic Brain Injury) that were previously masked. mTBI from slow mechanical impacts associated with sport was discussed before moving onto the rapid loading from helmets deforming under ballistic attack and then how modern hard armour plates manage the blast shockwave and protect the torso.

After two ‘Pint of Science’ presentations Steve will hang up his hat – unless a burst of inspiration comes along and matches the themes of that year.
